　　应空间和学有缉熙荣幸地向您宣布，我们将在北京和广州双城联合呈现最新展览《北京抽象》。

　　“北京抽象”是一个成立于2017年的艺术团体，所有成员均为中国抽象艺术领域最富盛名和国际影响力的中坚艺术家，包括白京生、冯良鸿、李迪、梁好、林菁、刘刚、马可鲁、马树青、毛栗子、孟禄丁、谭平、袁佐。

　　他们的抽象艺术实践，贯通了整个中国当代艺术的历史。

　　在当下疫情这个特殊的时期，我们希望此次展览是一个能够提振勇气的展览。这些个体实践都持续了超过三十年的艺术家，他们不同的行径路线、彼此参差交织的生命轨迹，或谜一般的自我放逐和隔离、参与和匿踪，让我们看到：艺术家之间这种跨越时代的友谊和团结对于彼此的启迪和影响；更可以看到，在种种时代的变局和意外、人生的得失、事业的起落中，个体如何回应所处时代的局限，如何以顽强地描述最高形式的意志，在漫长的独处时光中，锤炼和推进自己的工作不断前行。

　　北京本身就如此抽象，对艺术家个体而言，这是一个无法忽视的意识形态与国家象征性精神秩序的抽象布景。那么，抽象艺术在北京则意味着什么？在惯例的中国当代艺术叙事中，抽象艺术一直打上了深深的社会学烙印：它嵌入社会变革的结构；启发公众的新视觉、新经验、新秩序；艺术家作为反叛者成为文化英雄。从早期作为社会主义现实主义大本营主流之下的暗涌，到改革开放后，抽象艺术成为“自律的”和“启蒙的”双重现代主义在中国的艺术缩影。而今天，在日渐成熟的中国当代艺术系统中，抽象艺术失去了那些意识形态对手，渐渐成为不太容易获得新的角度来讨论的一种艺术实践。那么应当如何看待这些相当具有历史纵深的艺术实践呢？回溯他们从具象起步到接受抽象的那个时刻，为什么他们可以在此后长期的创作生涯中一直抽象？未竟的现代性和“克服当代性”，在当代中国贡献了怎样的思想力量和价值？这也是这个展览需要直面的部分之一。

　　他们或许是中国艺术史中唯一一代、旗帜鲜明的“抽象艺术家”了。

　　配合此次展览项目，主办机构将在两地组织一系列闭门讨论和开放式会议。将“北京抽象”这个每位成员个人实践都颇有历史厚度的小组，同当代最年轻和最活跃的写作者、策展人、理论家、思想家进行深度的直接对话，以期在中国当代艺术的代际之间形成更深入的连接，让新的一代思想者有展开对中国抽象艺术根源的理解、评议、研究和写作的契机。作为思想结果的出版物，将于展览开幕后推出。

　　Ying Space and XY GALLERY are honored to announce that we are joining hands to present BEIJING ABSTRACT, our latest exhibition in both Beijing and Guangzhou.

　　As an art group established in 2017, BEIJING ABSTRACT are proud to include the most renowned and influential artists in China’s abstract art arena, such as Bai Jingsheng, Feng Lianghong, Li Di, Liang Hao, Lin Jing, Liu Gang, Ma Kelu, Ma Shuqing, Mao Lizi, Meng Luding, Tan Ping, and Yuan Zuo.

　　Their practices on abstract art have been throughout the entire history of the contemporary art of China.

　　At this extraordinary moment of raging global epidemic, we hope to organize an exhibition for rallying courage. With more than 30 years of practice in the field, these artists make us see the inspiration and influence of their friendship and unity that go beyond times, with their diverged paths, overlapped tracks, mysterious self-exile and isolation, participation and hiding. From all the changes and accidents, loss and gain, ups and downs in life, we can also see how each individual responds to the limitation of the time, and how to describe the will in its highest form with tenacity while pressing ahead in the prolonged period of solitude.

　　Beijing itself is so abstract--for the individual artist, this is an abstract setting of ideology and national symbolic spiritual order that can hardly be ignored. But what does abstract art in Beijing mean? In traditional Chinese contemporary art narration, abstract art has been marked with the imprint of sociology. It embeds itself in the structure of social changes: enlightening the public with new vision, new experience, new order in which artists, regarded as rebels, become cultural heroes. Once the undercurrent hidden in the main stream of socialist realism, abstract art later became the epitome of the "self-disciplined" and "enlightening" dual modernism in China after reform and opening up. And today, in the increasingly mature Chinese contemporary art system, abstract art has lost those ideological opponents and gradually becomes an art practice that is not easy to be discussed from a new angle. So how should we look at these art practices with a deep sense of history? Looking back at the moment when they accepted abstractism despite their start from representational painting, why can they be so devoted to abstractism in their career thereafter? What have the unfinished modernity and "overcoming the contemporary nature" contributed to the ideological strength and value in contemporary China? And these are parts of the questions that the exhibition needs to take on directly.

　　They are perhaps the only generation of “abstract artists” who took a clear stand in the Chinese art history.

　　The organizers will arrange a series of closed-door discussion and open convention. Beijing Abstract, a group of artists with solid historical sense of practice, will be engaged in in-depth dialogues with the youngest and most dynamic writers, curators, theorists and thinkers today. In this way, we hope to form a deeper connection between different generations of Chinese contemporary artists and give the younger generation thinkers an opportunity to better understand, review, study and write about the origin of the Chinese abstract art. This publication holding fruits of ideas will be published after the opening of the exhibition.

　　“去碑营”作为「碑营建筑」（steles architects）的一个长期常设项目，于2017底正式启动，作为考察性的展览项目，“去碑营”全面呈现和梳理对绘画最有见地的一群艺术家的最新实践。目前项目已经呈现了《北平之春》、《自我作古》、《地域画家》、《密度符阵》、《画的诞生》五次。展出了大量对于当代绘画具有突出贡献的多代艺术家的杰作。

　　Steles, a permanent project of Steles Architects, was initiated at the end of 2017. As an exhibition project for visitors, Steles, presents and reviews in an all-round way the latest practices of a group of artists who have fine vision for painting. Five exhibitions have been organized under the project including LE PRINTEMPS DE PEKIN, VIVRE SANS TEMPS MORT, They had the power of talking in tongues, and acting like prophets, DENSITY TALISMAN ARRAY and VIVE LE TRAVAIL, in which a great number of the excellent works by several generations of artists with distinguished contribution were exhibited.
